I know Ill get flamed, so here it is, Im so sick of none bikers and a few bikers who after my accident are asking me if Im going to start wearing a helmet! Why would I its my choice, isnt that whats its all about! For me its a personal thing I dont wear a helmet because I dont want too! Its my life, my skull, my bike,my freedom, isnt that what were all on are steel horses for! because we want to do what we want! And how we want todo it! We want the wind in are hair, and the bugs in are teeth! I dont tell cagers to wear there seat belts and buy cars that have crash bags. So please like the flag says ''DONT TREAD ON ME'' If Im really stupid respect my right to be! If you wear a full face helmet or a half and you think that after 70-80mph itll save your *** buy all means strap it on! Im all for ''you'' to wear your helmet. In fact do what ever you want as long as its lawful, and here in the Blue Grass it lawful to not were a helmet! SO DILLIGAF thats my little rant, thanks for listenin!
I shake my head when I read, "I live in a state where I have to wear a helmet, so I don't have a choice." Really? Technically, no one is forcing you to wear a helmet. You are either wearing it because you want to or you are just doing it to avoid paying a fine.
Instead of just grumbling and putting something on your head you don't want, why not work the system? Helmet laws are just another law. Laws get changed and repealed all the time. Write, call, e-mail your elected officials and make a sensible case for the return of your personal freedom to choose. Maybe get involved with your local ABATE group. They are usually fighting against helmet laws.
It probably seems hopeless, but nothing will change if people don't make it change.
Of course we're being forced to wear a helmet. We don't have a choice. Ride without one and between the impound fees and the fines you're out $600.00. Do it every day and it's going to add up don't ya think?
Making the "choice" to not wear one in a required state would be idiotic. ABATE and BOLT have been fighting helmet laws forever. They (we) just don't have the bucks to throw at the politicians that the insurance industry has.
We don't have a helmet law in Kansas, but my wife says I can ride as long as I wear one. Our son got killed on a bike 10 years ago and he was not wearing a helmet. I respect my wife's opinion and so I wear a helmet. Otherwise I might revert back to when I was riding in the 50's and go without one.

Right on brother. I don't get why people feel the need to try so hard to impose their beliefs on others. If you don't want to wear a helmet than don't wear a helmet. I wear a half when I ride and that's my choice. I'm not gonna tell anyone else that they need to do the same. I got into this topic on the "helmets are for sissys?" thread. I feel for myself that there is nothing wrong with taking a precaution and putting on my lid but I would never tell you or anyone else for that matter that they need to do the same. This is America the land of the free after all. Life, Liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Have fun, ride safe!
In Pennsylvania we have the right to choose so sometimes I choose to wear a lid and sometimes I choose not to. But if you ride a pedal bike in this state, you better have a helmet on your noggin, or you WILL be fined big time.

To bad most don't take the responsibility of their freedom of choice.
Because people refuse to accept responsibility, we must live in the nanny state.
That's the main problem in today's society. If more people had morals, honour and good character there would be no need for the majority of the laws we have today.

Do whatever you want while you can.
That's a good point. Maybe we should remove all safety devices such as airbags, seatbelts, padded dashes, ABS brakes and weld a 12 inch spike to the center of all steering wheels. How many texters would you see on the highway then? Sure would thin out the gene pool for the better.
