Only time I really want to go out alone is test and tune,or just go get stupid, looking for a drag race or roll-on.Any run we go on always have a ball must be the crowd we hang with.Never been one to just go riding for the sake of adding miles to the odometer always need a mission.
I don't mind riding with others for a few days, but anything over 1000 miles and I'd rather not have to be as considerate of someone else's BS. My wife is an awesome riding partner, so she gets a pass/ exception here, but I don't like multi state rides with too many other folks.
I like it all. I like to come home from work, hop on the bike....and go out on the interstate & do a 40 mile blast. Some evenings...I have a favorite back road I like to do by myself. On the weekends, I'll ride with my five best buddies for a two hour ride for lunch to southern Virginia or northern SC & ride back. The wife & I head out after work for dinner somewhere some nights. Some weekends..it's just bar hopping. Some weeknights...Bike Night. On Sundays, my same group of friends with the wives will head to the coast for the day & back. We all do Poker runs together. My son goes to college in South Carolina..(Go *****!)..some Saturday mornings I ride the 3 hours to go have lunch with him, ride back. I love it all.
Hard for me to fathom some saying "for safety" ... I'm a lucky lady to live where I live.
I ride alone. Have one male friend when he's at this end of the planet we ride together otherwise I don't share my space.
One stretch of road heading home involves a mountain and a loooong dark patch of old growth monster tree's. Haven't met anyone yet that comments that spooky ride in the pitch of the night all alone is fun.

Both! Well run group rides are enjoyable, especially if the destination is an interesting one. Solo rides are fun as well as I am not locked in on a schedule or itinerary.
Ditto - I enjoy a well run group ride with experienced riders - nice to have company when you stop for lunch - often they know roads I have not been on.
Solo is also great. Sometimes it is good to be just me, the bike, and the road. Never know where you might end up. I am fortunate to live in an area with great mountain roads within 45 min.

I often ride home from a friends house at night through farm and lowland wood country. Not far, only about 10 miles of riding.
I especially love it in early spring when everything is popping, the smell is awesome. Add a full moon when everything is semi-lit up, just beautiful.
Then you see the deer..........
They are all over in my area. Still fun, but you do have to be on your toes.
Interesting that most of us prefer solo, or small groups.
