Need some input
Dude, screw the HD financing, if it's a major issue. If you are not currently a member of one, go to a Credit Union, for one there is always Navy Federal (which has been nothing but great to me) and get a pre-approved loan through those guys. Since you are in the military, you should not have any issues joining Navy Fed. They have very competitive rates and you know exactly what your payment will be. That is always the first route I explore when purchasing something that requires financing. In some cases the dealer may be able to offer a more competitive interest rate (not the case here), so even though you have a pre-approved check, you are not obligated to actually take out the loan, if you decide to go with the dealer's bank. Now if you decide to purchase a bike from a private party, the pre-approved loan doesn't work. You just have to call the union (very quick turnaround), give them the specifics on the bike, and they will cut you the check, in the seller's name, for the exact amount that you request (granted it is w/n bb value).
Furthermore, given my past experiences with prices and having done some research, i would look at private party sales first, before even considering going to a dealer. Plenty of good to great deals on CL for example.
Also, as far as the weight goes, just FYI, the x bones and the SG are about 40-50 lbs in weight difference.
