mikuni is a good carb, but no better than the original kehien..
slow jet =zero to 1/4 opening
cutaway =response from 1/4 to 1/3
needle =1/4 to 3/4
main jet 3/4 to wide open
what do you want to know??
You can download the tuning manual from the Mikuni website. It will tell you all you need to know. I've been running one since '02 on my bike. It works well, but IMO is jetted a bit rich from the factory for a stock motor. If you're motor isn't stock, that may not apply.
Despite Mikuni's claims to the contrary, I've never been able to match the fuel economy of the stock Keihin. Then again, back when I ran the Keihin, gas was about $1.50/gallon, and it was real gas, not the E10 crap we have to use today.
I got one and I think there the cat meow.... I got 42mpg 45hwy...go with a 22.5 pilot jet or a 20 if that's all u have.. 165 main.. And a 50 a/c pump.... Set the screw at 2full turns and leave the needle in stock spot.. Text me if u want 908-461-1895
Replacing the stock carb on my 1999 FXR2 with the Mikuni was one of the best upgrades I ever made to that bike. Throttle reponse is WAY better than the stock model. Sorry, havent got a clue on how to tune it. I ride, someone else wrenches.

That's almost exactly how I have mine jetted, and I get just about the same mileage. With the Keihin I averaged around 50 MPG.
Are you asking me or the OP? In my case, I'm running a #20 pilot/air screw 7/8 turn out (I had a 17.5, but it would cough in cold weather), #98 needle (center notch)/#165 main jet/#50 accelerator pump jet (pump rod set to "no" gap).
Motor is stock internally with Arlen Ness "Big Sucker" air cleaner and H-D by Kerker 2 into 1 exhaust and muffler.
