Agree, I have a one piece BMW rainsuit that have had for a while. Still works the best. And yes do own a BMW but will use it when needed no matter what I ride, as it works great on keeping one dry.

I'm too poor to afford myself cheap stuff.

In other words, I don't see the need to buy a cheap rain suit I'll have to change after two years because it's crap.

I mentioned it somewhere else on this very forum, but the best rain material you can buy is that old fashioned "wax cotton" clothes, like the Barbour or Dryzabone jackets & pants, they pop up regularly on Ebay & other online bidding sites.

I bought my second hand Barbour jacket on Ebay for a mere 200€, it never had been worn, and bought worn out pants, not Barbour's but from an unknown brand, on Ebay in UK for 25€.

one pic of my jacket:

and the pants:

That kind of wax cotton gear, when treated properly, will last for decades, I wear the jacket every day since two years, I didn't have to wax it till now, and I got tons of water while riding the bike to and from my work.

Beware of the counterfeit, a lot of chinese **** for sale everywhere, too cheap to be true.

Waxed cotton looks really cool, but it's heavy and (if properly waxed) doesn't breathe. Not what you want to have on when it's 90 degrees out.

Where I live, it nevers rains when the temp goes as high as 90° F.

Well, as a matter of facts, the temp never reaches 90° F over here...

BTW, a leather jacket, most of the times, is heavier and even (un)breathable than a wax cotton jacket.

Ask me how I know...

When i lived in England, Barbour was what I used. Still have the jacket but the pants have been lost somewhere over the years. Do keep you dry just not real good in hot weather. Reason I use the one piece BMW rainsuit, not as hot in hot rain. And on the Gulf coast it rains when hot.

I have a couple of HD rainsuits that I have used for 7-8 years. They are getting a little beat up, but I use different waterproof treatments that I have left over from hunting clothes to make them last another season. I will be breaking down and getting a new one in the future....but if it ain't broke....

My HD rain gear was leaking and wasnt worth 20 bucks, which i didnt find out till i was on a long trip. Dealer exchanged it for me when i got back, so...no problem there. But then i haven't used that new one yet..... If i was to buy one today, I'd be looking elsewhere, even though everybody else is happy with their HD gear. Just not my experiance

Something with a bib type pant would be my choice or a 1 piece withouth a fairing.
