No they were not. The woman with the bad ankle injury was wearing one though.

What a sad situation. Prayers for the injured and for those who witnessed it as well. I'm sure seeing something like that is sure to bring on a lot of mental and emotional stress.

That`s one of the bad things about riding with a group of people you don`t know .... Prayers to all involved.

Many group rides I see are two abreast, one bike length apart. I don't care how well you know your buddy, that's an accident waiting to happen.

Someone fell down on my first group ride. His bike bounced up and ricocheted off the concrete median barrier, almost taking me out. That was my last group ride.

Sorry to hear of the accident.

Yes, I feel bad for any rider that gets hurt, but have no sympathy for those that ride with out gear.
