Default Looking for the right Harley

Hey guys. I am new to Harley's and well I'm looking for one that fits my size and age (although I rather like some tourers). I'm about 5' 11" and 170 lbs. it would be mostly used around town but I would like to occasionally go a little further. Which class/model would y'all suggest? Oh and year please because I would like to keep the price range between 10-15k if possible. I am 24 years old if that helps. Cheers

PS: I like to feel in the bike rather than on top of it if that makes any sense at all!

How long have you been riding? I suggest going to a dealer and test ride some bikes and get the one you like best. Each one is a little different and only you will know which one fits you.

I've been riding for a year on a Honda rebel that was given to me and I guess I've caught the fever..

Go spend some time @ the dealers talk with then and make a list of things you like need and want along with don't like
Also take the time to ask Guys as they come into the dealer what they like and dislike on their bikes
I could have 10 bikes to cover all the aspects of what i need/like

There is a lot of demo rides all over the States . This is the best way to try as many bikes as you like within a friendly atmosphere.

Enjoy

Background on two wheels?
City % vs highway% ?
If you like to feel IN the bike, it has to be manœuvrable and light.
Used or brand new?

Concur. To add my $.01, there is a huge difference between a bike that is great for zipping around town, to one that is good for short trips, and between the first two and a real touring long-distance bike. I like to take 50 or so mile trips and for me my Sportster is the right bike. For just town driving an even smaller bike might be "better" and for real long trips a Road King or something might be better. But I like my Sportster for me. The OP has to decide which bike feels right to him.

Go to a dealership, look at what's there, sit on them and test ride some. And if they have any sort of booklet with the bikes, take it. Then go home and decide if your checkbook can handle it.

Just beware...the cost of a bike is only the beginning of the cost.
