Default Reflective Rim Tape

I did a search here on reflective rim tape and didn't come up with much, so I figured I'd ask about it. I know this seems to be a little more popular with sport bike crowd, but I'm thinking of pinstriping my Cross Bones spokes with red rim tape. I do a lot of night riding in the city and outlying areas so the extra visibility would be helpful.

I found a seller on Amazon with a US-made product and great reviews. I've never seen it in person, but the pictures/vids suggest it lights you up like a Tron lightcycle.

Does anyone have personal experience with it, or have you ever seen a bike with it? How does it look?

If you search -taylor rim tape- on Amazon you can see what I'm talking about..

Any thoughts?

I've not done anything like that on my rims, but I did add reflective pin stripping to my stock pin stripping. It does stand out at night.
( I also put some on my helmets)

Before:

After: The reflection is from the flash on the camera. During daylight it's just a pin stripe.
(BTW- I hate that seat..ugly rarely use it.)

Hate to say it, but you have come to the wrong place if you want to discuss reflectors on motor-bikes. Most people on here would rather have threads dedicated on how to remove reflectors rather than install them. I wish I was kidding, but sadly I'm not.

Ironically I removed the stock reflectors from mine 45 seconds after I got it home, too.

I was toying with the idea of powder coating the factory black rims red at one point, and I also considered a red pin stripe too- similar to the redline tires of the 60s. Then I ran across this tape online and thought it might be a good (possibly temporary) compromise.

This guy modded his 48 and used it. Personally I like the pinstripe look during the day. Im just wondering if its a little too sci-fi at night...

Honestly I don't see the arguments for or against being much different than for the LED light kits that are used to light the frame and engine...

I'm not in that group. I plan on keeping mine, even if it helps the goofballs to see me 1/10%. Just like the baggers and their rear bag lighting up...I wish my reflectors would light up at night but I'm not worth 2˘ in wiring.

We use industrial 3M reflective tape at work. In the day it just looks red, blue, black or green.
At night it's pretty intense with light shining directly on it. The black lights up as a very whitish gray.
I'd say it'd look fine.

I've done three Harleys using reflective rim tape I got from EBay. Two were orange, last one blue on my FLHP-I with CHP stickers. I thought it looked pretty good and got several compliments on it. I also did it to give the bike good visibility at night from the side. VRod Night Rod specials came with orange stripes on the rims as well as the blacked out from the factory Sturgis model in the early 80's

I say any illumination addition can only enhance safety/visibility @ night...if you're looking to light-up your ride then go for it. Personally, I've never worked with the stuff, but one of my troops @ work striped his Ninja up pretty sweet...looks good.
