Default Heated Gear / Over Pants or Liners?

Ok last winter I got some Gerbing gloves and jacket liner. (wondered why I hadn't done it sooner) anyway so now that I'm totally pussified I'm thinking pants.

My thought is waterproof over pants with boot zippers so once at destination they are easy to remove and just have jeans underneath. Someone else tells me that I really want the pants liners so the heat is closer to the body.

Does anyone have suggestion and what about the Harley pants made by Gerbing (does the plug match) or the straight Gerbing pants I hear the sizes run funny.

Harley pants are going to cost more than the equivalent Gerbing pants.

Always try clothes on (just like a woman does) before buying. I learned that when I realized that Levi pants sizes run funny even though the label on the back say the same thing.

There's nothing about using heated clothing that makes you less of a rider. Welcome to year round riding.

I've used just about every brand and type clothing out there. I won't go into brands because that'll start a thread derailment. In my opinion, your always better with heated liners as opposed to heated external clothing. Also, I'd try using the jacket liner, gloves and insoles before going with heated pants or liners. You may find you won't need them.

I rode to Daytona this year from Ohio and it was 12 degrees. I had a Gerbing jacket liner and G3 gloves under my leather jacket and leather pants.

In cold weather, I use heated gloves and a jacket liner, then just wear a quality insulated over pants with insulated boots and wool socks. On my full faired Ultra Limited, it works very well for me down to temps in the 20's.

Thanks for the input. Yeah I've always been a year round rider but a really cold one sometimes. When I left riding for Daytona last year it was 12 inches of snow on the ground and in the teens. The day before I left the Ol,Lady took me out and bought me heated stuff. (gloves and jacket liner) heck of a gal.

Trip wasn't to bad at all compared to other cold weather trips

Anyway now she wants to add the pants or liners so figured why argue with her. Either she cares or things I'm getting soft as I age.

I've got some Gerbing heated gloves and jacket liner. Haven't wired up the controller yet, but will do it in the next week or so.

Before I bought them, here's what I was doing. It might help with you pants question.

When it got too cold for me to ride, I would simply put on my rain gear. Completely blocked the cold wind, and held in another layer of air inside. It was awesome.

If you've already got gloves and jacket liner, try just putting on rain pants. Might just save you a few bills.

I have both the liner pants and the 3 layer over pants both Gerbing. I bought the over pants last year in Dallas to ride home since the liners were already there in Wisconsin. They have 2 removable liners (1 heated layer, 1 waterproof/wind proof) under a multi vented armored shell. Temp was dropping as I left Dallas and dropped below 32 as I got into Missouri, 25 as I got home, after midnight. The over pants are warm. I'm not sure how they look, I was looking to see if anyone would wave back while I was wearing them instead of leather chaps but I didn't see any other bikes for the entire 1000 miles. I keep the liner pants handy for my wife , she gets cold below about 65

TL/DR buy the over pants, much warmer.

I use the pant liner. I put on a thin long undie, the liner, my jeans over that, and then my chaps. I use the controller and stay toasty warm. I only use the gloves when it's below 40, they work great.

I have been using the gloves and liner for years. I have some leather overpants and that all keeps me very warm and dry. If you run a controller check out this panel http://shop.captain-itch.com/Magneti...Tank-Panel.htm
