Default Engine Bolt Topper Kit Question

Just finished doing some work in my cam chest. While reinstalling the rocker cover bolts, I noticed that they were rusty. I cleaned them up the best I could with a wire wheel and a drill. I was looking at these bolt cover/topper kits on Amazon, It seems that they basically are glued on with silicone. Are there any kits that snap on?

Snap on bling never stays on unless you bust out the silicon.

Maybe check out stainless steel fasteners?? At least they don't rust or have oxidation issues.

Look in the harley catalog or J & P cycle.
Some all metal covers have a small allen bolt on side to lock cover.

The toppers just seem fake to me, and a hassle every time want to work. Plus they can fall off.

Replace the fasteners, either stainless or just new

If you go stainless look into anti seize to prevent gauling. Also back of torque setting if it is normal dry. There are formulas for when you add lube. It's not a lot, I think like 10%. Which for many things you might not notice.

But I would read up and people selling the hardware may be able to help if you email them.

But don't do the press on fake nail route.

I've though 12 point might look good, and not less likely to strip.

You ever even been in a Harley engine? Not everything gets loctite. Pull out your manual if you have one.

I was thinking primary cover since he is worried about appearance. You are not seeing rocker arm bolts or can chest.

But if you never worked on a Harley you may be surprised how many bolts go in dry.

Just reread, my mistake he is talking rocker arm. I have been in mine a few times. More curious about rust inside engine. Did it sit for years?

But I would have to look, I don't believe everything gets thread locker.

I would not fool around with after market bolts in engine. Would be concerned heat transfer/expansion and gauling. Just get some from Harley.
