Default External breather

On my road king, I have hoses to use as a external breather.

My question is about the little hole you see in the picture. I've never filled them in or anything. Do I need to? I dont really see how anything would go in there with the hoses on.

Thanks

I’m not an “artistic” critic, but a better picture with, I dunno, an arrow or something pointing to WTF you’re talking about might help.

Maybe it’s just me, but I’m old……

I could be wrong as my reference is a 16 FLTRU.

I think you'll be okay. . It seems to me that in the OEM setup, that there is where the oil would travel through the screws, into the backplate and dump into the throttle bottle.
Have you tried running the bike to see if you get oil seepage?

My only concern is that it may be a vacuum leak? Sorry if that's wrong.... I am trying to think through this and be a little helpful. :-)

It will never be an issue unless you ride a lot of miles in a very dusty environment, but I'd plug them. There's a tiny bit of unfiltered air going into each hole.

I used the Doc Harley method of tapping the holes and installing set screws with loctite. 12-24 set screws work with the Screamin Eagle back plate. I used 1/4" long set screws. If I did it again I'd go 1/2 inch.

ETA: Those holes are on the wrong side of the throttle blade to cause a vacuum leak.

I'm not the OP - however, if you look at the picture, he is pointing at the hole with a pick. 5 O'clock position - near the black hose in the middle left of pic.
and I wear glasses...... LOL

If you do not plug the holes that the hose used to go thru to feed that hot, oily, oxygen depleted air into the intake, THEN unfiltered air WILL get sucked into your intake and cause accelerated wear of the engine.

Here are a couple of videos you may find useful-

Would some oil resistant gasket sealer work to fill the holes?

Edit. I see now the DK video says you can fill with high temp rtv.
