It’s comical because guys walk past this filter all the time to put inferior filters on their bikes for more money.

Those in the know learned a long time ago:

Fram 6022 is what Fram calls out for Harley Evo, it is not the same as the filters made for the MoCo (no matter who makes them).

The Fram 6022 has an anti-drain back valve, the actual Harley filter does not.

I can’t speak for the 6022. If what you are saying is true the “Fram” would be better then. My experience has been with the 6065 with my Twin Cam and M8 bikes.

Oh, my mistake, I thought you said "Back in the `90s".

I have no idea what you are trying to say.

Just bought a bunch of those “inferior” Fram PH6065B oil filters from RockAuto on a Closeout for $4.82ea.

I have no idea where you got the idea that HiFlo and K&N are the s ame. They are not. Period. They. Are. Not. They are manufactured by completely different manufacturers, in completely different facilities, with different designs.

We had serious and significant issues with K&N oil filters - with the biggest issue being those with the nut "welded on the end" across the country a few years ago. The filters were failing catestrophically and oiling up racetracks, resulting in big safety issues, as well as timing as the track had to be closed to be "cleaned" (which always takes more than an hour at a minimum). Not talking about drag racing. I'm talking about Road Racing. Most race orgs banned them for a good period of time. This took place at (but is not limited to): Road America, Pittsburgh International Race Complex, New Jersey Motorsports Park, Summit Point Raceway, Road Atlanta, Virginia International Raceway, Jennings GP, Daytona, Mid Ohio, and others.

To be even more clear, HiFlo (which look similar) were NOT banned, and did NOT have the same high failure rate. It's also important to keep in mind that when you're seeing failures with these, it's REALLY significant, as for my race bikes ( did oil changes about every two weeks. I was racing almost every single weekend, running R1s, an R6, a GSXR750, and a FZ07R in both sprint and endurance racing.

These are well documented. The ban has since been lifted, but most of us now stay away from them as we can't trust them. When you're running over 190mph up the front straight at Road American then having to brake hard to enter Turn 1, the one thing you don't need is the track and your tires being oiled up. It took K&N FAR FAR FAR too long to even acknowledge the issue and "claim" to improve their product. BTW, K&N USED TO manufacture high quality components. However some years ago they outsourced manufacturing to contract manufacturers in China, which is when quality dropped terribly.
