Default LED Comparisons

I'm interested in making my tail light on my '04 Sporty a serious attention-getter for cagers behind me, and I'm wondering what has been the experience of members on this forum with the varous brands.

Kuryakyn has had them around for some time and I know people who swear by their Panacea system ($MSRP $159.99). I'd like something a little simplier, such as their tail-light only (MSRP $99.95, which includes the lens - 10 bucks cheaper at most places.). I haven't found anywhere how many LEDs Kuryakyn uses nor any claims or specs on brightness, etc.

Custom Dynamics sells the Radiantz LED Retro Kit, which uses your existing lens and bucket for $118.75. It has 136 red LEDs and 3 SMT white for license plate. They offer a lot of supporting data and test results for their product. They also carry turn indicator LEDs with some pretty empressive claims.

My ride has the self-cancelling turn indicators and alarm system, so it would appear if I use LEDs all around, it would require a load equalizer. Kuryakyn has one for $29.99 (I assume it's simply some parallel resistors to pull the necessary current). Custom Dynamics has their Smart Equalizer for $56.95, which apparently uses something more sophisticated.

Too, I'd like to use the clear vs red or smoked lens, not for any safety issue -- strickly for bling.

So what's been your experiences? Has anyone counted the number of LEDs in Kuryakyn's non-turn (all red) indicator version? Is one better than the other? Is there someone out there with comparable products?

Not a tail light replacement, but I saw the Billet Boyz license plate with integrated brake and turn signals on a demo stand at my dealer.

I saw the leds for a good 30 seconds after hitting the brake light button. Bright is an understatement.

They said it uses a harness that plugs right into your existing, so no cutting is required and your current tail light and turn signals still work.

It's avaialable from J&P, I saw it in their catalogue.

I have the Panacea Tail Light and Turn Signals on my RK.

Simple to install - it took more time to remove and replace the seat than to do the installation of the lights.

They are ATTENTION GETTERS!!

I'd have to agree with grover, I have the kuryakyn taillights on my 04 RK. My wife loves having more lights in the back to help keep the cages away.

I don't have one, nor have I personally seen one, but I really like the Joker Machine LED Tail light/Brake light/Plate mount. Very nice looking, especially on the 'bob-tail' fenders... fits nice and snug and IMO looks better than that boat trailer light.

And they also make other styles for your sporty

Thanks for the input, folks. The license plates used in Maryland are bigger than the standard size used by the rest of the country, so none of the license plate frame options are do-able. The significally lower price and the total package of the Kuryakyn set vs the Radiantz offered by our forum supporter Custom Dynamics, has me leaning towards the Kuryakyn's Panacea.
