Default Installing parts question?

Just purchased the chrome switch housings and chrome master cylinder/ brake bracket for my new fatboy. I have two questions: is it best to have the service manual before tackeling this project and are there any problems I should anticipate with this installation. Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I don't think that's a big job. The only thing you might not have is a pair of split ring pliars...

Definitely get the service manual. It's well written and easy to follow. You can read what you're getting into, look at the pics and then decide what you want to do.

I try to avoid sounding like a broken record, but they're right... You'll never go wrong if you buy the manual... I read mine cover to cover before I changed the oil...

Read the top of the master cylinder closely before you add any brake fluid. My new ULTRA is DOT 4, not 3 or 5. The dealership was quick to point that out, because many people and shops use what "their used to"....The manual is a requirement and a worthy investment for any bike and an owner who wants to turn a wrench or screwdriver on the bike. Hey- what is your time worth... A screw up will cost you lost of time (Wouldn't you rather be ridin'?), not to mention a possible messed up part expense!

The Service manual is always nice to read through before tackling any job, minor or major. Installing chrome controls is relatively easy. A little more time consuming if you have to add on to your wires if you install taller handle bars. You will want to make sure you use the correct brake fluid as investorsc stated, when you fill the master cylinder. Bleeding the brakes is pretty simple, just as you would on a car. You can do it. Take your time and you'll be back on the road with some new bling in no time.

The very first thing I do is purchase the shop, parts, and wiring manuals. I do this for my trucks, cars,m and bikes. It helps when working on them. The parts helps to figure out how things go together, etc. And the wiring is something you can't do without if you have any elec. problem. Just a thought.
