Mirrmu, what combination would be the most useful for the most people? Keep in mind that the Target Tune is most likely the "way of the future" and is the most textbook.

The dyno tunes tend to be the easiest to point out tuning irregularities. Target Tune tends to fix all the irregularities.

just for a harley twin cam say 07-up where someone has changed exhaust, air cleaner and cams (not a hot rod build)

and later may change exhaust again or cam

they after best running bike, would say most who use the log software are probably using Powervision, so lets forget Target Tune,

how do people use the log viewer to easily identify issues and then make the changes in their tune file

whats the first 5 plots and fixes that are critical to a top running bike

Lets start on this screen shot. At this point, I am just looking for fuel issues.

Here is the first view I go to. I lock the AFF limits to a min of 95 and a max of 105. I am looking for the big red areas indicating the AFF is adding at least 5% or deep blue areas indicating the ECU is pulling fuel. On the right screen, I am looking for a well defined and relatively straight line.

You use MAP Smoothed, RPM Smoothed, how is that different then our MAP and RPM, and if it is, what did you use to create it?

You said you lock the AFF limits: exactly what is meant by that? If you set up a filter all it would do is block the read-out above and below.

What if, in the right screen, the line isn’t straight, but has a curve?
What does it mean and how would one make it straight?

In the log that created the pic below the front cylinder forms a fairly straight line, but the rear has a noticeable curve. Is this within acceptable limits, and if not, how would one correct?

You can create any new field you want based on any fields you already have. Look under

Look under Calculated Fields, Custom Fields, Add Custom Fields

RPM Smoothed is defined with the formula smoothBasic([RPM],3)

You can also try

smoothFiltered([RPM])

Regarding setting Limits, In the case of trims, when I am hand tuning, I like to sneak up on correcting fueling. Keep in mind that you VE by 8% is about 1 AFR at the tail pipe.

When playing with Limits, you can get the colors to make more sense.

A curve on one cylinder and not matching the other indicates that the exhaust system has issues. In the Harley world you have to make the best you can with what you have.

It is part of dealing with a shared exhaust, wobble fire motor.

It appears to be more the shared exhaust. It really does not matter. You still have to tune around the issue.

Here is an example of smoothed data on the right vs the original data on the left. This happens to be data off a Sporty.

http://www.nbs-stl.com/HarleyTuning/...othing%202.png

Yep, the upper center of this plot is a little fat (Blue). I could keep pulling about 3% at a time in that blue area until it gets closer to 13 AFR

Here it is in a trace
