sert install trouble
Recently purchased a tuner and went to hook it up today, but can't get it to do anything.
Have tried the trouble-shooting in the help files, checked cables, ports and all of that good stuff, but still can't get it to give me ecm info.
It seems like all of the trouble shooting ideas are dealing with the computer, but how do I know that the problem isn't somewhere else?
Has anyone had problems like this or any suggestions? Maybe I need to try another laptop?

What version of Windows are you running?
Make sure all cables are secure and no bent pins noted within the cables.
Make sure you are selecting the correct COM port.
Drop firewalls and antivirus programs.
Make sure both the ignition switch and the handlebar RUN switch is on.
If you are using a USB to Serial Port adapter, the Belkin has proven to be a good one, a Radio Shack one has known to create problems.
Follow the destructions
given with the SERT.

Thanks for the quick responses! The g/f computer is running 2000 pro on it. BUT, I did not have my run switch on, so you guys were dead on! It figures it would have to be me being screwed up.
Just went out and tried it again and it is now working!
