I have a 2007 Sportster 1200 needed an ECM so bought a parts bike. All I had to change was TSSM and ECU as long as I had the key fob should work correct? Have tried this the bike will start but die after 3 seconds not sure what is going on. The security light seems to stay on but the bike will start so I do not think that's my issue

You need to password learn it. Here you go. PS you will need to assign your fobs if using your old ones and you changed the TSSM. I highly advise having the bike on a tender or trickle charge when doing this (or remove the headlight fuse)

Thank you. This is needed even if everything coming from same bike.
Well if the ECM is for an 883 and you installed it in a 1200, the fueling is completely off and it could start and die. My answer was based soley on your description of the issue assuming you have already ensured all other things are equal.
Yes all other things are equal. Should have the right map or tune on it. So I shouldn't have to get it reflashed? An ECU can be installed in another bike as long as the tune is the same and it will work? I know in a car you have to get an ECU flashed to match the VIN due to the other modules such as BCM for it to work.
It was the password learn. Bike starts now thank you. Now I'm getting a problem where the bike will idle all day but give it any gas and it dies. Have replaced tps sensor already. Maybe vacuum leak? If I move the map sensor my idle changes on a vehicle that is typically a vacuum. Not sure yet any suggestions?

Check ECM Codes. Document them. Clear them. See which ones return (if any)
