there isn't anything in the manual on this IIRC. turn the screw till it just touchs, the 1/4 turn after that. You are going to want to double check your tps values and IAC steps. i dnt remember the TPS being adjustable, so you might have to get the value from the FSM, and trun the screw in till it reaches that value.
normally this screw doesn't need adjustment, unles it falls out, ( I have seen it)
if you are trying to adjust this screw to compensate for something else being wrong, you might end up going down a rabbit hole.
m
you just need it to open enough for the IAC to work correctly.
Ive been experiencing engine dying when hot at idle. Cleaned IAC and while MUCH better , continued to die occasionally before IAC steps increase to hold idle at 978 rpm . I moved the throttle stop in slightly and again some improvement but my caution is stopping me from proceeding without sound advice on how to set it correctly. As I moved it it did not change the Throttle Position %.
Does anyone have a detailed procedure for adjusting the throttle stop on a Delphi EFI, cabled TC?
Cant find in my manual.
Are you referring to the screw you see in the throttle body back face when you remove the throttle body?
It provides the base stop for the butterfly. The IAC determines the rest from cold start and warm up.
My service manual if that's the one you are referring to is factory set.
I assume to a predetermined amount of air going through with butterfly closed on the stop and IAC shut. I am at a loss as how even a Harley shop could do that.
The screw is behind the air cleaner backplate. and acts on the lever that moves the throttle plate. I believe you're correct that the ECM knows how much air is coming around the plate and calculates how many steps to set the IAC. It is underestimating and then increases the steps but not always fast enough and she dies . They're should be an initial setup doc for this mechanical stop, that allows the airflow to match what the ECM is calculating with.
