Hey guys, just rebuilt my 2013 ultra with 103 and have an se255 in it (I know, I know)! Big shock, but the sucker was pinging pretty bad on the first ride, all of which was 2500 rpm and below when I got on the gas. I’ve got most of it gone, but still a little there when I really get on the beans. I’ve got power vision with target tune. My question is if power visions auto tune addresses ping at all? Does it only address VE tables or does it do timing as well? I’m running a canned map from dynojet so I wanted to auto tune but want to address the knocking as well and don’t know if auto tune would potentially do both.

JMHO but the text in blue is your problem; getting on the gas at 2500 and below is lugging and will make many motors ping. I am going to suggest that you move your shift points up and keep the motor spinning at a higher rpm when you "get on the beans" and the pinging might go away. Agree on 93 octane and that a dyno tune might be necessary to adjust timing to address the ping. You do need to eliminate the ping, it will destroy your new build.

during normal riding I completely agree that the shift points need to move and I ride like that. I am finding the pinging is bad enough that if I am riding normal I still get some, but when I try to create the situation that causes the pinging to be prevalent it’s in that area. I agree with everything you said, but still I’m finding it difficult to ride in our area where we have a lot of mountain roads without pinging as I start to even roll it on.
all the tune in the world will not take away issues lugging the engine. what gear are you running in when this happens??? traditionally hd does not like the 2k with steep gearing
I agree about keeping it above 2500. Though I don't know that cam. When I put in my mr103 it lowered cruise rpms under 60. Interstate still likes to be closer to 3k, same as when it was a 96". But back roads made difference
