Default SERT MAP, does tuning location matter

Will I see any differences in MAP's if I purchase one from Latus $50.00 vs The Local Dealer $160.00?
I am concerned a MAP from another part of the country may not be as close to one locally. Barometric Pressure, Temp, Sea level, above sea level, etc...... or will the computer handle subtle variables.

As you know:
Latus is in Oregon.
I am in Maryland.
Dealer is 25 mile away.

Thanks in advance.

The Map sensor is actually a dual porpuse sensor, as the bike runs it measures absoulte manifold pressure but when you first cycle your ignition switch, while you wait for the fuel pump to pressure up, the Map sensor measures altitiude.

Outside air temp,Humidity and quality of Local fuel is more of and issue. Some places have oxygenated summer fuel 93 octaneon a 100 degree summer day. The next guy tuned in Phionix on a 90 degree day, 5% humidity 89 octane gas and sea level. The last guy tuned in Missouri day in the winter at 40% humidity40 degree day on fuel that was left over from the last ride in October.

All these identical bikes will have very different tendicy to knock. Every tune will be different on the ignition side even if the same tuner did all three tunes. The factory has to tune for the worst of all these combinations and as such leaves all three bikes with HP on the table.

I have ridden my bike anywhere from 700 feet altitude (where I live) to 11 thousand feet in the mountains of Wy and Mt with no issues, the only differences I can think of would be timing maps differing because of available fuel quality. BTW, purchasing a map may get you close but will not compare to a quality dyno tune. By the pic you have posted it is a beautiful bike, do it justice by getting it properly tuned.

For an extra $110.00 you are getting a personalized map for your bike (if the tuner knows his stuff). I'd go with it just to give me that warm fuzzy feeling you get when it's for your baby!

I wouldn't be too worried about the differences between Oregon and Maryland. I don't think it's a factor. I expect you'd get more bang for your buck from Latus' map versus what your dealer is offering. $160 doesn't sound like enough for a real dyno tune, but is about right for a dealer download. Make sure they're clear about what you're getting for your money. I'd recommend you get the Latus map. If you still feel it needs work, take it to American Cycle Performance in Glen Burnie for a dyno tune.

Skivvy9r, you are exactly correct. The dealer charges $170.00 to remap the ECM with one of their tuned MAPs. Only a download. I was told they are confident the MAP will work and be extremely close. Same exact setup. Like they explained the first guy with a particular setuppays for most of the labor. Either case not a custom MAP but I would hope extremely close...I'm actually not interested in beating on the motor just yet until I get some miles on it.

I have installed the TMAX and PCIII on my previous bike and want to try the SERT this time. I'm all about performing the labor myself when ever possible. TMAX is not out till mid summer and I am one of those people that cant wait. Most of all I want the bike out of stock form.

I also have the problem of getting the bike to the dealer if I choose to try their MAP. I was hoping the "N" disk had a MAP rich enough so I can ride the 25 miles to the dealer.

The Rinehartswill be here Tuesday. I Have the HD heavy breather A/C and "N" Disk V477.
Dealer has a bunch of the "L" race tuner and 2 cables....

KBFXDLI, Thats one steep driveway. You probably dead on going for the 50.00
