I have a 2007 Softail Deuce and out of the blue when ever I apply the brakes (Hand or Foot lever) I blow a fuse. I looked everywhere. when unplugging clip under seat to the rear lights it still blows. Does anyone know if there has been a TSB on this or know of any one else having this problem. I took apart the hand controls, and unpluged the the 2 connectors to the break line just under the frame and .....you guessed it, it still blows. Somewhere and somehow it is shorting out.
Sounds like a short in the handlebar controls. Its real easy to pinch a wire and not see it. I would also check the wires in the rear fender. Might have been rubbed into from the wheel.
The brake light power is orange/yellow. Pull the main fuse and bulb from the taillight then check the resistant between it and the black wire. It should be an open circuit. You can check at the connectors to isolate which section of the wiring a short is in.
I looked in the handlebar control and everything is pretty covered with conduit. Did not see anything out of the ordinary. Since the fuse is blowing shouldnt there be a bare wire shorting out on sometype of metal. There is a yellow wire under the seat that lookes pinched but no wire exposed. It is pretty frustrating and I thank everyone for their input. I will keep searching and check everything that everyone has suggested. I will also check back for additional advise.
Thanks again guys!!
Did you add any options to your scoot? I had added the triple red light tail brake conversion to mine, 2 weeks later I was also blowing fuses, I threw the conversion kit in the trash and haven't had an issue since. Good luck.
You have a short on the red/yellow wire. It could be in one of the switchs or in the tail light. The brake light bulb or the socket could also be shorted internally. Time to drag out an Ohm meter.

Remove the handlebar master cylinder clamp, open the clam shell, and pull the black sheathing back about 3" to expose the area where that clamp sits. Carefully examine all of the wires right there. You'll find it.
That's where I've found the last 100 times.

When I put my module under the seat to have my turn signals act as running lights and brake lights I started to blow fuses. Could not find anything wrong. I put in a heavier fuse
(from 15 amp to 20 amp) and works ok now. I know you should not change fuse sizes but I have had no further problems. I think that with the extral lights working it was borderline to many amps. 02 Electraglide. If it is not a dead short then I would think that is borderline maxing out amps. Mine would not blow immediatley it would work ok befor a ride and then would be blown during the ride.

Thanks Jungleman! I had a tech fo through everything, strip the bike toits harness and traced everything down. He was getting a continuity to ground somewhere and could not find it anywhere. He made some adjustments and it no longer blows. He said if it blows again he will trace wire for fire. I will mention what you said because I have a LED rear tail light.
