Default ditching EFI..

Hey all..
im new to this site but know my way around an EVO.. about 8 months ago i purchased an 08 crossbones and i'm not really thrilled about the EFI.. i built a custom hardtail w/ jockey shift, from a wrecked fatboy pre-2k that had a super-e on it and although it was touchy.. i could still make it home no matter what.. now im having stalling problems while throttling up and all sorts of electronic mods, 300$ here.. 500$ there problems just to put pipes on it??!.. i dont want to have a laptop anywhere near my bike and I'm thinking of ripping the EFI out and just going back to a super-g... any suggestions??

+1 on EFI. I tune it myself... but I got to get my laptop close enough to plug it into the bike.

I've beleive I have come across similar threads here in the forums but I think these are for the guys who have the MM ECMs. Where are you at in your modification? What information are you looking for?

Putting pipes on an EFI bike shouldn't take hardly a thing. Something is wrong with what you are doing.

Can you give more details?

no man.. putting pipes on was the easy part.. getting it to run right is the problem.. i took the stock exhaust off and put vance and hines short shots on it.. got the fuel pak for it and programmed that correctly.. checked and re-checked and re-checked and re-checked and re-checked.. and it still backfires if i lay into it... the idle is too high.. and i get stalls in the middle of a throttle up in 2nd.. u are right.. it shouldn't be this hard.. and that's why im gonna tear it outta there and put a carb back on it!! haha

Don't have your answer but can provide some info. The Induction Module PN# is 27708-06. This would indicate to me that 2006 was when it was first introduced.

There is a few guys on here with the short shots on their bike, you might want to get with them and see if they had any issues and/or how they got them resloved before you dump a bunch of $$$ into a carb mod.

ya, like i said.. im new to the site so im picking things up as i go along.. but as far as im concerned.. a conversion back to a carb i think will be cheaper in the long run than having to take my laptop w/ me on long hauls.. call me old fashioned but taking a screwdriver instead of a laptop w/ me is where im at right now..
i've got a freind w/ an 07 fatboy and he has the same problem... i may be sweating the details a bit.. but i don't want my bike popping especially if im gettin into the throttle.. when im used to adjusting a carb to get rid of that problem ya know??

Either the setting is wrong or that is a defective Fuel Pak.

How does it run without the Fuel Pak at all? Do you have an Air Cleaner too or just pipes?>
