Ignition/Tuner/ECM/Fuel InjectionNeed advice on ignition issues? Questions about a tuner? Have questions about a EFI calibration or Fuel Injection? Tips on Engine Diagnostics, how to get codes, and what they mean. Find your answers here.
Just wanted to relay that I just finished tuning my 09 XBNZ. I put on an RB LSR 2-1 and Roland Sands/K&N air cleaner kit over the winter. I am lucky to have many country roads with a fair number of hills, so incredibly I was able to knock out the entire excercise in only 2 runs! I went on a third but didn't get any improvement. Blended the VE, reset the tables, and took it for a test. No popping, and the Scoot is running great, the LSR sounds deep and not too loud, and the new riding season is here! For any who have been on the fence re: getting the TTS, don't think about it, just get it. Ride safe all.
Did not take it to a shop first. Did the whole thing by myself. Just follow the very detailed instructions. It is not hard, just pay attention to detail. You will save a lot of $$ going this route, learn something about how your scoot actually works, and if you ever get more engine work done, plenty of power in the TTS function wise to optimize your build. Highly recommend.
I'm in the "middle" of my upgrade and so far I'm pretty happy with the experience. (FWIW)
"Gotchas" that bit me. (Being typical guy who doesn't read instructions)
1. Make sure you install the USB drivers. I stupidly assumed that since other USB devices on my machine worked fine this would too. (WRONG)
2. When you connect it and go to save off the factory calibration make sure you have the "run" switch on. Took me 10-15 minutes to figure out that just having the ignition switch on wasn't enough. The manual states it clearly, but the 'application' instructions just say "ignition on".
Other than that it was pretty good to go in and look at all the various settings, etc. I need to wait for my daughter to bring back my older smaller laptop so I can run through the Vtune cycles and get it completely dialed in.
(my mods are pretty simple - arlen ness air cleaner, and some rush slip ons)
I am sending my SERT in for the TTS upgrade. Will I still be able to use the old Windows 2000 laptop I have? The cables connect to the serial port.
TTS FAQ says it will work on all windoze 98 and newer.. otherwise its getting the drivers straight and port assigned properly, if they didn't get set right in the install.

+1. My laptop is from 2003, but I have Win XP. You should be OK.
