Well last week after running a permanent aux cable to the tourpak from my radio, the radio starting cutting out and then the radio would lose all power and the clock wasn't even working. I figured a simple grounding issue. At worst I thought it would be a problem with the main connector to the radio.
Even the wrench thought it might be a problem with the main connector and suggested I take another look and at the very least clean it. So today I pulled the front of the fairing off and checked the plug, no problem.
So I thought, well, lets take a look in the tourpak. Checked the connection of the antennae cable to the mast fitting and it was totally loose. Tightened it up and WOOHOO! Radio is back with no issues.
Thought I'd pass on the info that somehow that connection of the antennae cable to the mast on the tourpak is a grounding point. Who knew?
