I did, My 94 Low Rider idled about 750. I have my 08 FXDF at 800, but there's a lot of opinion about this. Some are gonna say you won't get enough oil pressure. Still others will say that your battery will go dead cause the alt can't charge it.
Has anyone oilpressure figures confirming this? Has it really happened to a FI HD that to low idle has wrecked the engine? Or is it just a theoretical statement?
I think the higher idle speed is a emission thing. If it were an oil pressure issue you'd blow your motor every time you slipped your clutch through a parking lot or what ever without giving a little throttle IMO.

All the best

I've been asking this for a while, but no one w/an oil pressure gauge can provide any answers.
isnt it obviouse that the oil pressure will be regulated by the speed of youre engine? it runs off a gear or shaft with a key. evo and tc. the slower the motor turns the slower the pump will turn. if you want that potato, potato sound, build yourself a shovel. theres no way you will ever match that sound with the new TC. it just the way it is. if you want to turn your idle way down so you can be diferant then the honda and yamaha guys, then fill your boots. just dont be surprised when you heat up youre engine after running around town in stop and go traffic and score cylinders and pistons from heat. lets face it, 99% of the HD riders, will never leave there bikes at a dead idle at the stop lights anyways. any one ive seen, revs it up 50 times before the light turns green. so why bother idling it down. just my opinion. oh ya and they can idle low enogh on the shovels and evos to make the oil light flicker. when that dummy light comes on the pressure is low. thats why its there.

+1, you hit the nail right on the head. Guys seems to have this burning desire to try to make the TC sound like something it isn't. In the end it just sounds like a TC that needs a mechanic to fix what may be ailing it. Maybe they need to spend some money on some head work a BB and cams then it will sound like something not to mention the boost on performance. I've heard a few stock TC's that someone fiddled with the idle on, it doesn't sound like potato potato, it kind of sounds like putt putt instead.
