Default SERT question

Just picked up a 2006 road glide with SERT.
I have the unit, cables, and CD.

I just want to plug this thing in to be certain it is "mated" to this bike.

It is possible it was never used at all.

I don't want to plug it in a F@%$ anything up...lol

Your help is greatly appreciated...

.......can't wait to get real pipes on this ride .........

George

It won't mess anything up. Just hook it up and it will tell you the VIN and map loaded. If it were not for that bike it would give an error and wouldn't let it do anything that's all.

Not entirely true, you can use a SERT that is married to another bike to read the ECM, you can even use it to retrieve and clear codes. Shouldn't throw up an error unless you go to put a MAP on and it's married to another bike.

I think it can also be used for, "data mode" on any bike. May be wrong there

You are correct. It can pretty much do anything but write a MAP to a bike that it is NOT married to.
