update, y'all may get a good laugh, I aint the smartest kid in the class lol.
Uncle Chester was right, wasnt engine related at all, well alomst. Ya know how the big twin rubber mounted motors vibrate at idle, well turns out the new headers fit a lot closer to the rear brake attachment to the master. I have a custom extended reach pedal and floorboards moved up an out for my long legs. I dont use the rear brake much.the pedal is also just a bit wider down there than stock and has a fitting to grease it, But I havnt in quite a while. so it vibrates enough to rattle and just touch the header. I'd never heard that noise before and was too focused on tuning. it did sound like engine clatter in my defence. So all I need to do is grind about 1/4" off the inside of the pedal an grease it up real good. Problem solved. now I can finnish fine tuneing as I learn more about PV,AT and log tune.
Thanks Uncle Chester, you got me to look elsewhere, I couldnt see the forest....
hell smokey....you think that was bad? For 3 hours i chased a noise only to find out i forgot to tighten the heat shield down.....i got tap tap tap every time i got going. so id stop. bike was quiet. get going...tap tap tap...stop. i was like that dont sound right? i dont know what world i was in but my friend had a great time cause he knew what it was. So he just let me get all flustered.
Thanks Uncle Chester, so apparently this program is still useful, even though they don't ship the software with the units anymore. ...and I bought mine last year.
I bought my PV last summer...they didn't ship Log Tuner software with it, but I downloaded it from the Fuel Moto web site (also available on Dynojet's web site). This was before autotune was available...so you couldn't create new tunes without it. Its easy to use, you just plug in the old tune and the new log file and it generates a new tune.
I haven't used the new autotune feature. I got very good results using Log Tuner, so I'm reluctant to change. Autotune is probably good for those new to the PV as you can easily generate new tunes, but if it removes timing as several have noted, there are probably a lot of people running with less than optimal timing as a result.
Those of you running head temps over 300 deg. must not be using EITMS.
Mine is set to 284 on/275 off (close to factory settings) and it never gets much over 285. Normal operation is about 250 deg. In heavy traffic or stop lights it trips EITMS.

what do you notice when the EITMS kicks in? I've changed base tunes and I noticed that my bike now has an interesting idle characteristic when it's hot. The idle speed increases to about 1100-1150 rpm, the MAP increases to about 40kpa and it sounds like its chugging a bit. If you blip the throttle it goes away for 5 seconds.

So at the end of your AT session and you hit log stop and then scroll thru the screens by hitting the mode button what are you seeing? Are these screens set or can you change what you screens you'll see scrolling thru the modes?

The mode button lets you cycle through different screens during your tuning runs. One shows VE's for front or rear, one I belive shows changes for front and rear VE's, one is zoomed in on the cells you are in during tuning.

yes EITMS is on...but i got stuck in Boston traffic. That is when i saw the head temp above 300. EITMS did kick in. The EITMS system is to try to reduce the temp from rising. It will not cool the motor off. Just more of a slow down.
Normal riding my bike has any were from 250 to 275. Depends on how much stop and go i have been doing.

You are correct. EITMS tries to keep the temp from rising...or at least slow it down. It doesn't cool.
250 to 275 is about right for operating temp. Depends on ambient temp and how much cooling air is flowing over the motor. If the bikes not moving, or moving very slowly things get hot. I've been stuck in traffic at Laconia and things get uncomfortably hot in short order.
