Tried to get it into dia. mode, ignition off, switch to run, push odometer button hold, turn key to on no start ,release button and nothing happened no back light no speedo sweep no odometer read out ,Damn it this is getting.can it be speedo head or speed sensor or what else.I checked every plug from speedo head to the fuse block all fuses check good but there is one that dont have power if you are looking at the fuse block there are 6 fuses and a relay, all have power but the one in the lower right corner(bottom right lowest fuse) what does this work? Thanks

the bottom right fuse is the accessory fuse and controls the speedo, horn, turn signals, brake light, and turn signal module. If you don't have power on either side of that fuse with the ignition switch in the on position, then you've got a wire that's come loose and more than likely it's behind the fusebox. Concentrate on orange wires with a white stripe.

also use a test light if you have one. touch one side of the fuse while you try to move the fuse around a little and see what happens. might simply be bad contacts where the fuse plugs into the fusebox.

Damn I hate electrical problems ,cant get the fuse block out with out taking oil tank out but I traced the orange wire w/ white stripe from top of oil tank all the way to the speedo head and it has power all the way.Still no power w/ key on to the right bottom fuse and all turn signals work, horn and brake light work too (is there a easy way to remove fuse block)This has me .If it was mine I would jus ride it but the wife wants to know how fast she is going

if you have power on that orange white wire going to speedo head, all brake and turn signals work, and your horn works, then it's not the fuse or fuse block. So you've done the hard work now. I'm fairly certain at this point that you're dealing with a dead speedo. Do you have a buddy who can loan you a sportster speedo to simply plug in and make sure it works?
