Mine just did the same thing tonight. I was only about 1.4 miles from home and had stopped at a convenience store to fuel up. Couldn't push the thing fast enough even with someone helping to get it to turn over. tinkered with all the plugs and relays but none were bad. Pulled battery cover off and turned key on it lit up again. Put the cover back on and tried to fire it up but everything shut off again. After all the pushing and trying for the better part of 30 minutes, I thought and pulled the battery cover off and turned it off with no problem. I think my batter cover was grounding out my positive cable as the red rubber positive cover was not properly in place.
When I got to the house I pulled battery and checked it. All was fine on the battery. Using a fiber board nail file my wife had laying around, I cleaned all cable ends and nuts and bolts and re-installed the battery and connections. I took all the fuses and brushed them up clean while I was at it. It fired up pretty as you please and did so about 8 times with no problem.
One thing I noticed when I tinkering at the convenience store was that the red key symbol was flickering very dimly when i was having problems. That is a sure sign of low voltage from poor connections. I hope this ends all the gremlins from Old No 7.
I had the same issue with a Powerstroke and an 21 year old F150 I still have. Clean the battery cable regularly and don't forget the main ground cable from the block to the frame.
