Default engine temp question

Yesterday, I finished my first autotune session on my PV2. The bike is a 2014 Breakout. After riding for about 45 minutes, I got back home and flashed the learned info to the ECM. I made a quick run (less than 10 minuets) to see if anything had changed.

I noticed immediately that the decel popping was almost completely gone. At this point I was using the gauges on the PV2 in order to monitor the engine temps. The ambient temperature outside was about 90 degrees and I was riding in traffic for most of the evening. The PV2 was reading a temperature of about 285.

I've been looking for more info and have read different opinions. What's an acceptable range...considering traffic and such. I haven't given it a shot on the highway yet...understanding that temps will drop given the higher speeds and less stop and go.

thanks guys...by the way...the thread on the PV2 were a great help when running my setup over the last few days.

I've recently had engine temp issues on my 2004 heritage and had to replace the sensor. While I was working through the troubleshoot with my thundermax software, I think it said the alarm threshold is around 315. It gets to 230+ just starting and letting it idle for several minutes too.

I've hit head temps as high as 320 in stop and go traffic, my eitms goes into skip fire at 289.
On a hot day my cruising temps will get as high as 270 on a normal day 260
If you take a look at the timing adjust by head temp settings with the winpv you will see the factory timing settings go as high as 486.
