Have been expierencingwhat seems to be an electricalproblem and would appreciate any suggestions on probable causes.
After the bike gets warm, and typically after i've gotten on the throttle hard a couple of times the engine will quit as if the kill switch has been flipped. After it dies it will usually start again quickly but for a period after this It can just die at idle, and then it doesn't want to start for a couple of minutes. It always cranks, And I've always been able to limp it home.
His profile shows FXSTC. I was wondering if maybe he was having a fuel delivery issue. Like maybe a crimp in a line or something. Kind of like his fuel isn't getting to the carbs or injectors fast enough.Especially if it "typically" occurs after hard throttle application. That is the only reason I can come up with for it restarting, shutting off on idle, and then not starting for a few minutes. I know it takes more than a few minutes for it to cool off.
I'm also wondering if he has had the tank off recently. Maybe upon reinstalling it he pinched his line. Maybe his tank isn't venting properly, and it's creating a vacuum. Or maybe I'm thinking over my head. Wouldn't be the first time. You know, shade tree mech and all.
