i was told to purchase chain adjusters. therefor i have. now i have no idea where they go or how to install. need help AGAIN. nothing new tho. thanks abunch. lanky
You have two at the rear of the swingarm. They pull the wheel back and hold it tight. You adjust by turning the nut at the rear of the swingarm
The primary chain has an adjuster. Basically, there is a nylon shoe in the primary that puts tension on the chain. You adjust it by turning a bolt from the bottom of the primary. Turning it in tightens the chain.
Depends on how old that bike is. Gotta pull the primary cover to adjust my primary chain. The drive chain adjusters go on the rear axle and move the axle to gain the correct tension. make sure these puppies are adjusted equally or you throw the rear wheel out of alignment.
The adjusters go inside the frame swing arm. The two lock nuts adjust the wheel back equal distance to keep the rear wheel aligned, and at the same time adjust the rear chain tension.
Just leave the same number of threads showing on each adjuster, beyond the lock nuts, to ensure correct alignment.......pg
before i got this post i had already installed them after seeing only one on that was original. the other side did not have one. i know one thing, dont attempt to do this project on your own. what a pain in the fanbelt. motorcycle stand and a floor jack. never again. but thanks all!!!! but i do have another sorta dumb question, does it really matter when the horn gets mounted? kinda running out of areas to mount things to where it dont look stupid. seeing such i have a refabricated oil tank. i do have an area by one of the straps to where it would fit nice like. or does it have to be toward the front. lanky
That's crazy that your bike didn't have chain adjusters on both sides.
About the horn, are you asking where to mount it? I guess you can mount it anywhere you want to if you don't like the factory location.
wizardry68, I see some pictures in your profile. Are those pictures in your folder of the bike in question?
It looks like a custom frame rigid chopper. I don't know for certain, but stock parts might not just bolt on it. Somebody else here might be able to look at the pix and figure it out.
