I have recently bought a 1971 Ironhead which has the gear shift on the right-hand side. It has had significant modifications but the engine/gearbox are original. The bike came with footboards and whilst the control for the rear brake is complete and mounted forward, there are some parts missing to make the gear shift work from the forward position. I've added a couple of pictures here:-
Could you please help me if you know of any kits or which parts I need to complete the forward gear shift? Please bear in mind that I live in Great Britain but obviously have access to vendors over the internet.
You may as well face the fact that you are going to have to make what parts you need to complete the foot shift hardware so that it works. There are many people who have made this stuff over the years and 'parts' are going to be impossible to find. So, just make what you need.......pg
You will probably still end up having to make the parts that you need like piniongear said, but it's hard to see from the pic's what exactly is missing. Here is a link to J & P Cycles that has forward controls for your year. You won't be able to buy the individual parts though, you would have to buy the whole set.
