Default kickstand, oooh snap!

my damn kickstand snapped on my while i was trying to start (kickstart) my scooter.. anyway i welded it back together and bolted it back on. only problem is that i purchased a brand new return spring that i cant figure out how im going to get on there i cant stretch it far enough. i reckon ther must be a special tool u use to do this? anyone offer any tips?

when i did mine i had the wife hold the bike over as far as she could with the stand bolted on in in the up position used a pair of needle nose vise grips to stretch the spring, should not be that bad when the stand is up, maybe you could use a brake spring tool like you use when doing drum brakes on a car?

I used a piece of wire a little thinner than coat hanger wire, and about 2' or so in length. Bend it into a long U shape, attach a single block of wood to both ends as a pull handle. Hook the bottom of the U into the spring and pull it into place.

It is awkward as it is difficult to find the space to pull it. But it does work.

With the stand disconected put the spring on first then try to position the kickstand
back onto the bike and re-connect.

mien did the same thing to me when i first got it, to ge tthe spring on i did the same thing as Flying suggested worked really good alot easier then tryign to frig with the spring in the tin area you hav eto work with

The above recommended technique would not work for me. Here is a pic of the two tools i have used, the larger [~ 15"] one for the center stand spring, the smaller [~7", missing the wood handle in the pic] for the jiffy stand spring.
