unless i am misunderstanding something here, how do you run a set of stroker pistons on a stock stroke and stock rods? dont the stroker pistons have a higher wrist pin? that would mean with that set up the piston would not reach the top of the cylinder? or am i wrong!
Shep, Evils flywheels are strokers, 74" He thinks.
Evil, I would write down the part numbers for the wheels and look them up..are they S @ S?
This way,you can make sure they will work with Your cases..there are differences in bearings/races from year to year.(late/early) also with the oil passages if I remember. their website should also tell You what if any mods need done to Your cases.
yeah I'm scratching my head on the connecting rod issue, i was told before my buddy left for afghanistan that the flywheels were balanced for stock rods. I think i should prolly mesaure my old jugs and my new ones and see what the height difference is, and take pictures of the flywheels and post them. I assume the flywheels are s and s because he said they were from a kit, and the pistons are s and s.
the s and s kit had superstock rods, i think i might have to get me some of those.
Basically my buddy was like "hey we could turn your bike into a 1200, I got this kit I never used and I kinda need to sell it. " And then he shipped out to Afghanistan.
Evil, the rod length should be the same. The dif is how thick they are,S @ S rods are huge compared to stock. The wheels if S @ S are marked real good,You wont miss it.Also they will have a number stamped on the edge of both. This will tell Ya what years they fit and which engine size,(900/1000) just took a look at their website,it seems 57 up to 78 uses same kit..79 to 85 is for the later engines.
The flywheels are balanced separate from the rods. The rods are then matched to be equal in weight as with the pistons. As long as the flywheels have been balanced you can use any rods (as long as they have been balanced).
