Alright attaching the tender to the car's battery shows a red light ( charging) so I'm off to find a fastener store and stainless steel screws.

If you want to know if it's working, just read the battery voltage before you connect the tender. Then after you've had the tender on for a couple minutes check the battery voltage with the tender still connected, and you'll see a higher voltage if it is actually working.

Just hooked my tender to my XLCH and before I began charging, the battery volts were 11.99 and after turning on tender for a couple minutes the battery volts were 12.25.

Then I hooked my ammeter in line and watched for about a minute as the current flow decreased from 600 milliamps to 510 and so on down.
