Its an early one of 2600 that the factory had to bend the frames on because of a mistake it was on the assembly line so its repair number is low but it has a late motor / early 41 motor number

The thing that is not in the parts book is the special spacers they made for them to pick the dsash up so it could be bolted down

you can see the dog leg in the frame

They had to change the neck angle on 2600 or just a handful of the first 2600?

Im assuming the bull neck frame neck forging was a tweak of the existing die for the 18" wheels that they machined offset to get the new angle before the final revised neck die was ready. Interesting details in these old bikes.

They made a running change to 16 inch wheels for 1941 beginning production - but left the 1940 - 25 degree neck in place built 2600 machines before they realized the police machines that were delivered were going out of control and crashing because of the negative trail

they stopped production some 25 or so bikes had already crashed - then decided to bend the neck angle to 28 degrees on all remaining and any machines they could get returned to the factory to repair them

its an odd duck but its lol history

You have two of your bikes on the racks, I need to make a trip to your place later this winter to check on your progress.

Maybe help you with the nice bottle of Gentleman Jack as well.

Good luck with both builds, lock the doors and don't let any customers in the shop!!!!!!
