Just picked up my Road Glide Ultra from dealer they just did my 1000 mile service. Cost was $255.85 using SYN3 and Redline Synthetic Shock Proof in trans. They found zero issues with bike and when I got home after a quick 50 mile ride pulled in garage and went over every inch of motor. There is not an oil mark or streak anywhere on motor. I did notice neutral seems easier to hit after the service.
Just dropped mine off tonight for the 1k service tomorrow. Asked the service guy about putting F+ in the primary instead of the Syn3 that came in it. In the end, I stuck with keeping all 3 holes with Syn3. With the new tranny shifting smooth and N is always there, didn't see need to change.
Got 750 Miles on my 18 RGS,Probably wont get to many more rides in is going the other way here in upstate NY.Figure I will do it all in the spring,Dealer told me $299 for the 1000 Mi. Sv.I always do myself Don't use HD Oil,Not that hard I enjoy Doing it.

congrats, sweet bike! curious tho ... you mean you're putting the 1K service off until Spring? I sure wouldn't want those fluids sitting in my bike for ~6 months even with the low miles due to the break in contamination
I changed the engine oil at 400 miles (20W-50 conventional), then did another full service (engine, trans, primary) at 974 miles along with the full 1,000 mile checklist, which by the way, is mostly a bunch of insignificant trivial BS in my opinion.
Mobil One in the engine this time and Formula+ in the primary and trans.
I did find that the drive belt needed adjustment (was slightly loose) and the exhaust header-to-head nuts needed tightening. Other than that all of the checklist items, even the insignificant (to me) items, were just fine.
As someone else mentioned, neutral is much easier since the service. Makes me think that there is something other than Formula+ in the trans from the factory.
And just for the record, I'll be monitoring my trans oil level closely throughout this next service interval as I found evidence of the transfer issue.
My cost = About $100.00 and that includes the additional oil change at 400 miles.
I just got my 2017 Dyna Fat Bob. I only have about 134 miles on the bike, so I am away from my 1000 mile check service. I would love to do it myself, but I don't even know how to check the oil. Its much different than my old Ironhead. Heck, that bike does not even have a oil filter on the engine. So I will probably have the dealer do the service. Also, I will have them check out the oil lead I have near the spark plugs. Mine is the last year of the Twin Cam engine. I would think they would have all the bugs out by now?
Been riding since I was 17 years old. I have had 4 sport bikes, and two Harleys. A dealer has never touched anything I have owned. Maintenance on motorcycles is easy. Buy a service manual. The 1000 mile service is fluid changes and filter, they go over bolt torque to make sure nothing is loose, steering head play, belt tension etc. Nothing you cant do on your own. Did my own cam job on my road glide with a service manual.
Yep, same here I do my own service because I know for sure it gets done and done right. Do you guys think they check all bolt specs? Maybe maybe not. I enjoy working on my bike and cars. Save a ton of money and they run sweet!
