UPDATE: Having passed the fuel pressure and injector wiring checks that Harley Tech Support wanted, they now want the dealer to replace both injectors and all 4 plugs. You guessed it - they will have to order the injectors. The service writer said "we really want to replace the ECM, but we're having to jump through all these other hoops first before Harley will authorize it." I asked him why they thought the problem was the ECM and his response was "because it's an intermittent problem." I disagree - once the bike is fully warmed up, it transitions to idle very poorly and very consistently. I asked if they had logged temp sensor values since the temp sensors are known to fail in a way where they present a steady (but wrong) voltage to the ECM (which doesn't necessarily throw a DTC) and because it would make perfect sense for the bike to act the way it is if the ECM thought that the head temp was always 80 degrees or something. I suspect that if the bike were to continue to be fueled like it's cool when it's really hot, it would be significantly over-rich at idle. I'm quickly losing confidence in this dealer's service department.
I have had problem with stall a few times. I thought I wasn't giving it enough gas.Funny I haven't had the problem on my 2011 and 2014 Limited. It will not start until I put it in neutral. Dealership said 2017 have to be in neutral to start after stall or kill motor. It can put you in a dangerous situation.

I started to feel the same way about my dealership. I just lit a fire up their %$@# so let's see what happens. A HD corporate tech is flying in on Wednesday to check my bike out.
Did you call HD Corporate and speak to customer service and open a trouble ticket [or whatever they call it]? I did and that helped get the ball rolling because Corp called the dealership.
No I didn't call the corporate office, but they say they they did and that they have a case number. I have no reason to doubt them on this.
I asked about a loaner bike and the dude tells me "we don't have loaners, but I can put you through to our rental department." My response was "sure, but you're paying right?" He said no. I might push the issue in person this weekend.

Total BS. I have started my bike in gear countless times. Most of the people who work at the dealerships have no clue what they're talking about.
Just a question have any of the ones having a stalling issue had the ECM idle speed flash update done? This is not a performance flash just a HD ECM calibration update.
Mine was done at the 1000 mile and it raised the idle speed.

Mine has not had any calibration updates Smitty. When I asked the dealer about it, I was told that the update was for oil-cooled models only and not for twin-cooled (mine is a FLTRU). I'm not saying this is correct - just what I was told at the dealership. I have a feeling that raising the idle speed would not fix this problem, but who knows?

I'll have to ask that specific question. They said everything was up to date but you never know what they checked until you ask. Thanks
