Downhill at 35mph, 3rd gear would be the tallest. Epecially on a motor that isn't even broken in yet. I'll compare with the 09 six speed dyna, that doesn't see 5th gear till around 60mph on flat ground.
I Believe that are we roll into summer more alms more bikes will develope this problem...I was hoping by now the MOCO would have this resolved.
I agree with both things that you said rocket. As a group of owners (not talking about the exceptions, but as a whole) we don't have a great deal of experience with the M8 in warm weather - yet. The descriptions of the symptoms from everyone here seem identical rather than just similar which makes me think that many more will be experiencing them soon.
The thing is, I can't imagine that the fix for this problem will be anything all that big, but they really need to get busy figuring it out, because this is more than an owner satisfaction problem - it's a serious safety issue. Maybe some of us filing Vehicle Safety Complaints with the NHTSA (can be done online at www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/VehicleComplaint) would get their attention. Hmmmm...
Just a question have any of the ones having a stalling issue had the ECM idle speed flash update done? This is not a performance flash just a HD ECM calibration update.
Mine was done at the 1000 mile and it raised the idle speed.
I would like to know if this is true or not. I did a stage 1 and it did up the idle to 950ish. I have a friend that his idle hunts bad between 850 and 1150ish. Just had the 1k mile check up and dealer knew nothing about an idle speed update.
Can anyone say for sure or give a TSB for this ECM update?

This is right from service ticket on my RGU 2017 at 1000 miles. My bike has no mods done to it.
Old calibration 41000481A
New calibration 41000481B
Note : do not install on air cooled models do not install on models with race tuners or SE parts.
I posted this in another thread as well. Wonder if they have one for air/oil cooled? Maybe his bike is newer and has this update......smitty when was yours produced?

Mine is a 08/16 production . RGU, I had no issue with the idle and was kind of surprised by the update. Unlike some here I have a good relationship with the dealer. Been doing business there a long time. Heck they know my children and grandchildren. They have always been straight with me.

Took mine out this morning for some testing (playing) with new adjustable brake lever. What I was able to make happen has nothing to do with the lever. Also not sure if everyone here is talking about the same stall.
With bike at idle letting clutch out slow with no throttle, at a point when you add just a very small amount of throttle and full clutch release there seems to be a point it wants to stall.
I also tried the compression braking in a higher gear at 35 Mph down hill. Produce no stalling up to point I was going to slow to be in that gear.
I have experienced this same scenario on my EG Limited. I'm not sure if it is throttle related, rpm, clutch switch or something else. Mine idle will sometimes drop and come back up when coming to a stop, for no apparent reason, I never notice this once I am stopped.
