I spoke with my service dept. about this issue and they said that even on the bikes that they have updated with the M-1436 service bulletin, problem still exists. All it did was raise the idle speed to 950. They said the motor company is aware of the problem and is working on an ecm update. They are in the vetting process, so it will be months before a new update.
Below is a video of my M8 stalling. When I'm in 1st gear coasting, I'll pull in the clutch to brake .... And the engine dies. When it doesn't die, it will idle very low and stutter. When the engine dies it will not start again right away. I have to turn the bike on and off, put it in neutral, and then it will restart. I'm a sitting duck in the meantime. Has this happened to anyone else? One person this happened to said they replaced the MAP sensor.
Below is a link to a video showing the bike stalling
My dealer had a HD technician fly in to look at my bike and he supposedly fix the stalling issue while in 1st gear and the clutch is fully engaged / depressed. He said it was a faulty clutch switch that was somehow sending signals to the engine that the clutch wasn't depressed. The engine thought I was trying to switch gears without engaging the clutch, and because of this, it would kill the engine as a result. I will be going there tonight to test ride the bike and see if I agree that the problem is resolved. Since it only happened when it was in first gear and depressed the clutch I am not so sure I am buying the explanation, because wouldn't it send the same signal when I was in all the gears? We shall see.

Damn, between all these issues and the EPA Consent Decree I'm a wishing a kept my 2013 Ultra...
Reading the CD where the EPA is making the MoCo Void Engine Warranties if there is signs of Non-Compliant Tuners/Parts used is total BS,,,Bastards
daggumit..appears to be getting past the point of isolated incidents
I did call HD customer service and was issued a number for it. I hope every person that has an issue does the same thing.
Dealer will look at it and do what they can, clearly it maybe over their head. I have to work at it but I can make it do it.
It is clear in my case that it has to do with slow ground speed clutch and throttle position.

too early to understand the scope of this, and some of the other reported issues...but if it reaches the point of TSB or Recall..good example of real World Production release results vs. their claim of "1.5 million miles and 7000 hours of accelerated dyno testing" over however many years this has been in the making not being the same thing...anyway, most M8 owners love these bikes, they'll never be perfect from the start and just have to deal with the growing pains...it's when our safety becomes at risk that we understandably become intolerant (see also; pissed off) of such QC issues..I know I will be if mine falls victim
Stalling in the middle of highway traffic and not being able to restart the bike right away is a safety issue. Love my two M8 bikes but this issue needs to be address ASAP.

I get it, totally unacceptable, yet we have to accept it..where's the quality control over such a long development and testing period...without knowing root cause yet, bad batch of clutch switches or whatever...just bs when we are put at safety risk..all I can say is Thank God Harley doesn't build airplanes
