They want $24k for their 17 Vivid Black road glide plus tax, freight, fees etc? That's going to add up fast in additional charges. I'd tell them to beef up your trade in or hit other dealers to see if you can do better. The 18's will be out in early Aug/Sept. Damn dealers are pulling this crap everywhere with wholesale trade in for retail prices for their benefit. Tell them to do better or you'll walk. If they let you walk screw them. Other dealers will work to make you the offer your happy with.
I don't think you understood. You mention their asking price. That total number including setup and freight is around 25k. The deal I am considering is my bike plus 13k. According to book, that makes it approximately 22k for new bike.
2018 will likely see the M8 in all big twin models. You might find an M8 powered Heritage to be hard to pass up.
With the M8 in all models, it might be easier to negotiate price since the M8 will not be as exclusive.
For some perspective, you can buy three, possibly four, Evo powered bikes in good shape for the price of one new Road Glide Special.
Thanks but don't want another Softail. Great bike but want touring machine now. Damn, I thought my pending deal was quite decent and was looking for outside perspective. Now I am not so sure.

Doesnt seem to crazy..look at ebay sold listings and chopper exchange for what they are going for...BUT, how many miles on yours?
I would suggest taking off the "extras", you have a bunch and can get good money on that stuff, and offer the 13K OTD including (tags, tax. and basic fees.)
You still have the stock seat, etc?
Not sure if you can use your LED turns on the RG...

Get it and enjoy!!
13600 miles on Heritage. We are lucky to get 6 months of riding weather per year here in NE. Nothing on my Heritage would fit on RGS except maybe highway pegs and mini passenger floor boards. I went to two dealers. The first one an hour away. He said for that trade difference I need to leave everything on bike. I told them up front I was going to give my hometown dealer a chance to match or better one time... they did. Knowing I was going to do this, logic tells me the trade difference would be quite attractive to me hoping for a chance I would come back if my dealer balked at that price. Indian offered me 10K on my bike with no discount on theirs.
Sounds like a decent deal to me. What is actual amount out the door with tax and all fees?
Just shy of $14200. I was back there today and told them I need it a bit sweeter. I think I will be able to get another 500+ off. We will see tomorrow.
