The 117 is just what the line needed. It is truly a stump puller and it gives you all you want when you twist the grip. Every time I ride is a blast. I expect to see it in more models next year. If I had a trike it would have one in it.

It appears that my motor is burning oil. In 3k miles I dropped about a third of a quart on the dipstick. Talked to the Service Manager about it and he told me that that is within limits. I know that even new motors use oil but a third of a quart in 3k miles seems high to me.
It appears mine is eating 10-16 ounces every 1000 miles, getting ready to do the 5k Service so I will get the level on the money in the center of the dots and check every 500 for verification. I am thinking 10 ounces in 3000 isn’t bad.

MJ I have seen you discuss it in other threads, but what kind of consumption rate are you experiencing?

wife and I have a little over 30,000 miles combined on our 8/16 build date M8 107's..the worst consumption was last July to Glacier, 2000 mile round trip, triple digit temps most of the week, high elevation, loaded down..we used a quart combined, probably 65/35 % with hers using more. the rest of the time just check often and occasionally have to add a few ounces here and there....nothing as bad as some of these reports..our bikes were, as always, broken in properly...the disconcerting thing is the 2016 FW 103 on the trip didn't use any, so that becomes the mental stake in the ground expectation wise albeit unrealistic in comparison..my 2015 Rushmore RK barely used oil either, but her 2012 Tri Glide was somewhat of a guzzler

After 1000 miles after the first maintenance, did not burn an once. The worse oil burner was my RK CVO with the 110 engine. One quart every 800 miles. Harley said it was normal, high performance bike. Happy to got rid of it at a decent price.
