Strange thing happened while riding my '17 Road King today. Cruising along at about 50 MPH in the mountains. Without warning, the engine starts making a clattering noise and losing power. Lasted less than 5 seconds. While this is happening, the amber cruise control light comes on. As quick as it came on, it goes away. Bike runs perfectly for another 100 going home. Checked DTC's when I got home and absolutely nothing.
I thought it might be related to EITMS since I had just enabled it yesterday. Service writer at dealer says it doesn't sound like EITMS to him. Has this happened to anybody else?
Clattering and losing power - first thing comes to mind is secondary ignition. Might be worth your time to grab a flashlight and take a good look at the plug wires and ignition/coil connectors.
Never heard of it before.Maybe a lifter momentarily bled down? That would explain loss of power and the clattering noise. Then it's sudden going back to normal.

Luck
Interesting you say this. Had 2 occurances where bike clattered badly with loss of power that lasted less than 30 seconds. Explained to dealer, never heard of it. Doing routine check, found a spark plug boot that was not seated. Pushed it on and so far no issues to date
