Can I skip stage I, and go directly to a torque cam change Stage II.....i am not interested in new mufflers or air filter..changes.
Mostly 2-up riding and torque cam would help.
This was my original post....update....
I went to 3 different HD dealers.....and guess what ?????? I got 3 different quotes/prices. I asked for the same thing at all three....$985 ... $1450 ..... $1850 ...... i am amazed that if someone isn't informed what a racket...
Now the differences:
$985 i was not asked nor did I ask if the same rods were going to be used, but so what!! if they re-use the same ones.....tunes ( i am assuming a download)
$1450 they would use the adjustable puch rods, but then i question this, if the adjustable push rods are used shouldn't the labor be reduced as it's making the instal alot faster. (I am going to assume download )
$1850, was no adjustable push rods, but with a download, but if it wasn't good then a dyno tunes would be done.
The torque cam kit comes with adjustable push rods.If They are charging to use the originals, then it is a lot more work.Ask for the unused or old parts back. The download takes about 2 minutes,so a big charge is not warranted.I had one Dealer say it took an hour. What a crock!! I have the street tuner and cables,so I know what it takes to load the tune.
I loaded My own tune and got the torque cam kit installed for $750.00 last year in January. No dyno,I did a smart tune.
IME the bolt-in M8 cams presently offered by Harley (hp&tq) are not worth the money.
The torque cam increases torque, but over 3000rpm. Below that the stock cam outperforms it. Worthless.
The horsepower cam doesn’t work because not enough compression so it’s soft on the bottom.
That said, there are already several aftermarket cams that produce much better performance than the overly-conservative Harley cams.

I agree with this, I demoed a road glide special with the torque cam, SE high flow and powervision tuner. I rode the bike for about an hour and kept a heavy right hand most of the time, I must say I was kind of disappointed, expected more based on the stories I've heard. This of course is just my opinion and if you have this cam and like it that's all that matters but I won't be spending my money on one.
On my 114" using the torque cam, I saw zero loss at bottom and the extended power to the right was amazing. I am sure there are better cams to use, but the exhaust and tune is the key. I am still using stock CVO exhaust and intake, PV-2 canned map.
I did stage II with stock mufflers and TQ cam. No noticeable drop in LET.. Might be some at 1500 but it still pulls nicely for me.. Bike ain't as fast as my 95 ci RKC but it has a bunch more LET.

do you think the stock muffs helped maintain LET, or would you expect the same, with say the 4.5" straight thru core Street Canons?
I suspect that they helped. Don't really know for sure but many times a little more back pressure helps with LET.
yeah, if I have another Street Canon baffle fail and it's outside of warranty I may just put the stockers back on instead of spending more..the stockers actually sounded pretty decent for Touring..my Canons perform great and with the tune the torque peaks at 3k so happy with the performance..I don't think I'd have much, if any, drop off there going back to stockers but may have to retune..may even consider knocking out that plug in them since they aren't straight thru..but I don't know..hopefully the Canons will hold up this time so I won't have to do anything
