i bought my Stage IV to ride the crap out of it. I paid an extra $9k for this set up and I’ll be dammed if I’m not going to tach it out to the factory 6600 redline.
If if you bought a Dodge Demon and the dealer told you done tach it out over 5000 RPMs would you put up with it?
HD is letting customers who pay for high performance engines down. This is something I will not accept. I refuse to baby this engine just to keep it from blowing up. That’s what I paid for and I expect perfection for the extra money I spent. Not going over 5000 RPM just to keep the engine alive is a band aid.

Maybe you should not own one of these bikes if you are so unhappy and convinced they fundamentally defective?
I’ve got a few more than 300k miles on 3 baggers and only left by the side of the road once due to a broken belt.
I love my M8 (22k mi)for all the reasons mentioned by those who have not experienced the failures brought to these forums.

That said, there have been literally millions of Harley owners that would argue they love their motorcycles and have ridden them for millions of miles with smiles on their faces the whole way.

Out of the Four CVO bikes with 110 motors I have owned the 09, (46K miles) and the 15 (44K miles) had catastrophic lifter failure. The 09 had the top end, cams and so on replaced under warranty. The 15 had the entire engine replaced under warranty. The 12 had two compensaters, and one clutch and one Voltage regulator under warranty. The 13 has had no issue, as I built the motor with 1500 miles on the bike when it started getting lifter noise.
Wife's 09 had the stator replaced under warranty at 44K miles.
Traded the 17 CVO at 21K miles, but had been in for oil issues.
No issues yet on the 18 CVO, but I will not be surprised if there are before 45K miles based on their track record.
I trade before warranty is up as I do not trust them, and at 6K for a replacement engine it should be easy to see why.
