according to the SB, any bike built on or after 10/10/17 is golden
I know a replacement motor that was received and installed in March this year. It is a stage IV. It sumped right after break in miles were finished.
So either some one at the Factory put the wrong pump in, or did not install it correctly or the new pump is not the cure. It will be interesting to find out.

Something doesnt sound right. The factory doesnt build stage 4 engines. They can only be built by an HD dealership.

I think maybe he meant the motor was a replacement and built at the factory WITH the latest iteration of oil pumps. Dealership got the motor, did the stage IV install and the "newest" oil pump still sumped.

Then what really matters is if the engine was built before or after 10/10/2017, not when it was upgraded to stage 4 or even when it was installed. Given the slack in HD sales, there may very well be an excess inventory of M8 engines built from throughout 2017, so making sure that any engine installed was built AFTER 10/10/17 or is inspected and updated with the latest oil pump would be of critical importance on any Stage III/IV upgrade.
In fact in the "Extra Information" on page 4 of the latest SB1450 it states "When installing a Screamin Eagle Stage III or Stage IV kit on a 2017 or 2018 Milwaukee 8 equipped motorcycle built prior to 10/10/2017, a new pump assembly is required..."
Im scared to ride my bike anymore without first burning a jap bike in my back yard.
Ha, good one, lol... What's going on sure is a mystery.
Some don't have the problem no matter how strong the build, even aftermarket. Some have it Stock. It amazes me how little is really known about the root cause after two years. If I net it out, very little has been heard from the aftermarket world. Seems to me that may be the way to go as keeping your warranty hasn't saved anyone yet. Just sayin...
