did 20K service, flushed all hydraulic fluids, adjusted steering head bearing, needed rear tire..they found the rear wheel bearing disintegrating, rotor damaged and sprocket pulley and bearing..all done under warranty,,had them put on new pads..so final bill was $1133 for everything, all refreshed and peace of mind heading out on long trips..if I hadn't noticed the nail in the tire all the other stuff would have likely gone unnoticed and could have been catastrophic
Youch!!! Rear wheel bearing is pretty concerning. Glad it was dicovered and repaired.
Curious, did you notice any odd noise or anything else out of the ordinary? I'm starting to hear some noise that can only described as a howling from the rear tire area. Its especially noticeable when corering and rolling off the throttle.

no, that's the scary thing, did not notice anything..glad I sucked it up and went for the full 2 year 20K service at the dealership...for all the bad reputation they get there's something to be said for the positives of having them go over things once a year ...ish, especially during warranty..this visit came out heavily in my favor

I get the same howling from the rear, can't tell if its only 1 side. Sound during cornering could be tire tread noise......i get that with front at times and there are new bearings in the front. Rear has 4 bearings if I remember correctly, 2 in the wheel, 2 in the cruise hub.
MJ......I would have traded my bike in for a new one......LOL! JUST KIDDIN......
So you paid $1133 and your happy? I'd be in shock! Lol
all things considered if you add it all up it's not a "shock" with dealership labor
20K service
new rear tire installed
all three hydraulic systems flushed
steering head bearing adjustment
rear brake pads installed
the rest of the service and repair items were covered under warranty
yes, Harleys aren't Toyota Camrys and cost of ownership isn't inexpensive but you gotta' 'pay to play'..and the 'cost' of an improperly maintained motorcycle and accident can be 'costly' in many more serious ways
that being said, yes I am disappointed the rear end stuff was destroyed the way it was being so new still, hopefully cause was a set of circumstances that won't recur but sure will be keeping a watchful eye on everything
You read post after post of oem bearings not lasting no time, do they use cheap wheel bearings, I have a 01 lowrider original bearings front and rear with no wear what so ever, In fact it has 40,000 miles from new and has only had the tensioners upgraded to hydraulics. terry

it's disheartening for sure, if they indeed cheaped out on such an inexpensive and important item..it's the sort of thing collectively, over time can cost them their customer brand loyalty declining and losing out on future sales..especially if accidents are a result because those make news
