If I truly hated a bike as much as some post,I would sell, trade it or park it. Some people probably ride worried about what they read on here,if that's the case you need to buy a Prius.I have been on four long trips this summer and not one single issue with the motor. I had a right switch pack go bad and two left saddle bag speakers. None of those problems would leave me stranded. If you truly like the HD ,leave it stock buy a warranty and ride the **** out of it.

I'll use the lifetime powertrain warranty if I have to but I'm not going to ride in fear of what I read on the internet. I'm going to ride like every mile is a memorymaker!
Lots of rain on this trip up to Canada this weekend.......but guess what? Nothing happened in 760 miles.....just ran great again. Ran into many m8 owners on the way and couple BMW owners. They all snickered at one guy on here and said he should just sell it.....too funny.
Now if could just keep,the gas tank full.....ready to get these junk dunlops off..about wore out thankfully .
I asked my local HD dealer (I was looking at their Tri-Glide)... he said that he's had about a dozen back in for sumping, about the same for the fluid migration. Possibly in those might be both problems at once.
So - he sells about 1000 a year (his words)... say 24 total for both problems?
So if I bought an M8 I'd have a 1 in 42 chance of getting a bad one. Nope... not putting my money down on those odds. *
Sure, all mechanical things have issues - he said that... and told me that his new Porsche had problems. I said, "Sure... and you get them fixed... but HD seem to be dropping the ball on the fixing too".
* If I knew there was a 100% fix for a problem it wouldn't stop me buying - find a problem, fix it, good as new, OK.
But this sumping and fluid migration? No fixes, just patches that fail after more time, lies and misdirection from some dealers ("We've never heard of that!") = I'll be walking away.
I guess that decision makes me unwelcome on a HD forum now.... but then I'll be too busy having fun on my Panther Trike to be bothered by that.
A bit of a pity, my '88 Softail was ball-out FUN (nice engine in that too) until some dumb bitch ran me off it into a tree that ****-raped my bike.
