I always wait a while before doing anything. Probably because I spend all I can on a new bike so
money is tight.
But I sure save a lot of money by riding a few thousand miles. My body just adapts to the new setup
and no need to spend on bars or seats if you are comfortable after long rides.
Form follows function. Decide which changes are cosmetic or just your desire to be somewhat unique.
Understand your motives, look at your finances, and do what feels right.
Ok to answer the question, I added a passenger backrest and luggage rack to the Road King.
No two up touring rig should be without these.

All good feedback. I transferred from my Limited: windshield, riders backrest, Ohlins. And added LED taillights and turn signals, floorboard extenders. Up next, lowers, speaker pods and 7" speakers in the fairing and of course an amp. Probably will go with Biketronics. Still haven't decided on exhaust (slip ons for now). And the list goes on.....
